Lost
I'm doing all the things we used to do.
Went to the mall today.
Peered over at the toddler play area.
Took a whiff of memories stronger than
the smell of the Lush soaps.
I went there looking for the
adventure we used to share.
But now it is just a boring mall.
I stood in line at the post office.
Two young boys restlessly waited
for their parents to buy passports.
I wished they'd go away.
Wished they were you.
Remember we'd point to the greeting cards
and find all the dogs?
You thought American flags
and Valentines packages were magical.
But today I was as restless as those little boys.
Don't know what I'm waiting for.
With you I was driven.
Had a reason to wake up each day.
Ungodly hours became sacred.
Now, life happens around me
But I'm not sure I'm moving.
I feel lost in a familiar world.
Everything's the same, but nothing's the same.
